The Center for Continuing Education (CCE) at Birzeit University is a community service arm working in areas of educational reform, professional and organizational development, entrepreneurship, and capacity development. The CCE hosts the xLOBs (experimental learning objects) Project that integrates subject knowledge with life skills and citizenship education. It interfaces with the n ational curricula and is being introduced into schools operated by the United Nations Relief and Works Agenda for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA). The xLOBs model has been tested for over a decade, and the research focuses on creating and experimenting with learning that designs that support or complement the existing educational system to improve student outcomes. DECI has been supporting CCE in the design of a utilization-focused evaluation (UFE) plan and a communication strategy.
